Have Questions?
What are the legal requirements for placing a child for adoption in my state?
Consents to Adoption/Relinquishment to Parental Rights are voluntary for private adoptions in Arizona.
In Arizona, as the birth mother, you will sign irrevocable, written consents to adoption/relinquishment of parental rights after the child is at least 72hours old.
When at all possible we ask that the father signs the written consents to adoption/relinquishment of parental rights of the child.
Legal fathers must sign
Fathers who have established paternity must sign
The agency must make efforts to notify named fathers with notice of your intention to do an adoption plan.
Consents are irrevocable in Arizona except under very specific circumstances which are very challenging to prove. It is important that you feel comfortable with your decision before signing
Starr Adoption Services offers you an attorney to represent you and your interest for the consents to adoption/relinquishment or parental rights. You must sign in front of a notary or at least two witnesses over the age of 18. We encourage you to also ask legal questions related to the adoption to your attorney so that you are able to make an informed decision.
