As the founder and owner of Starr Adoption Services I have over 25 years of social services experience. In working in adoption services for many years, and being the Chief Executive Administrator for a multi-state agency for the better part of a decade, I knew that there was a better way to assist expectant parents and adoptive families alike.

In building this agency it was clear that our primary focus was creating safe homes for children in need. The only healthy way of building an agency that honored everyone involved was by honoring the child, the child’s needs, and the long term impact on the child given the decision at hand.

With a foundation of everyone agreeing to love and honor the child first, the rest falls into place. We have been very grateful to have the opportunity to add compassionate, thoughtful, and dedicated social workers to our team to support the expectant and adoptive parents.

Our staff engage with both expectant and adoptive parents ensuring that we are a good fit for all persons wanting to join our program and that we are the best agency to meet the needs of each person.

We delay matching until 20 weeks to provide us time to work with expectant parents to ensure that they feel strongly that adoption is the right choices for them at this time, minimizing (but not eliminating) the emotional and financial risk to the prospective adoptive family. And we agree that when expectant parents are in a position to safely parent or have another safe plan for taking care of the child that we will honor that path & provide support services to the expectant family. While also supporting adoptive family in their grief by providing counseling services, discussions, and minimizing the financial impact to their family.

When an expectant parent does place, we make the same commitment to them in honoring and supporting them in their feelings and needs. Our relationships are designed to be a long as the expectant parent would like, with the option to explore counseling services right away, or when they are ready, even if that is several years later.

This approach is love filled and honest. We ensure that everyone is part of the team, providing regular updates, supporting contact, and building strong relationships that develop into family. This is not transactional, this approach is built on looking at the best interest of the child and supporting all parents involved (expectant and prospective) with the support they need.
