Create an adoption plan
If you decide that adoption is the correct next step your designated Options Counselor will help you develop an individualized adoption plan.
Choose an adoptive family
Starr Adoption Services encourages expectant parents to select an adoptive family from our SAS home study approved families. We work to provide families to you that meet criteria that is important to you - religious background, hobbies, interest, etc.
Hospital/Birth Plan
A hospital/birth plan provides you the ability to decide what you would like to occur at the hospital without having to repeat your plans to multiple people. This plan helps nurses and doctors know what you hope for during your labor and delivery.
Legal Process
Starr Adoption Services is able to provide an attorney to each parent participating in the adoption relinquishment and consent process. This attorney is able to answer your questions about adoption & represent you in the adoption process to accomplish your goal of placing your child for adoption.
Placement
The final legal placement of the child happens at a minimum of 72 hours or more post the birth of the child. The adoptive family typically is provided temporary physical custody of the child either in the hospital or at discharge of the child from the hospital.
Post-placement contact
Expectant parents can request an open, semi open, or closed adoption plan. Starr Adoption Services encourages that a Post Adoption Communication Plan be drafted and agreed upon on open and semi open adoptions.
Counseling/support
Counseling services are available for the life of the agency with a Starr Adoption Services counselor to address adoption related issues.
