Can I Choose the Adoptive Family For My Baby During the Adoption Process?

Choosing the adoptive family for your baby durum the adoption process is one of the main hopes for my expectant mothers and fathers when they choose to create an adoption plan for their child. At Starr Adoption Services we not only support, but also encourage you to select the adoptive family for your child. Selecting an adoptive family for your child is part of your legal rights under an adoption. At Starr Adoption Services we have an easy process for you to make your selection.

  1. Preview adoptive families on our website click to view Our SAS families. Please note that not all of our families are listed on the website, so if you do not see a family you connect with that’s okay we can work with finding the right selection of families for you in step 2.

  2. Meet with a SAS Options Counselor - discuss your preferences, what values are important to you, what level of openess are you wanting, and etc. Your SAS Options Counselor can view more families and provide you with families that are aligned with your preferences.

  3. Review families that meet your specific criteria, and who you meet theirs. This is what we refer to as mutual selection to assist in creating a healthier match between expectant and adoptive parents.

  4. Choose the adoptive family you feel comfortable with - this may include a call or asking for the agency to obtain additional information about the family for you.

  5. Have an introduction call/meeting with the adoptive family.
