Creating A Hospital Plan

A hospital plan is a document created to communicate your desires related to the labor, delivery, birth, and hospital stay are relayed to all parties involved.

Your hospital plan is a great way to outline your wants and needs to nurses, doctors, social workers, the adoptive family, and etc.

When creating your plan here are a few things to think about to get you started:

• Who do you want in the room with you at the hospital? And at what times in the process do you want them in your room?

• What kind of an adoption are you planning to have?

• Do you want the adoptive parents to be part of your birthing process?

• Do you plan to have an epidural? Or would you like to attempt a natural birth?

• Do you have allergies?

• Would you like pictures or a video taken of the delivery?

• Do you want baby placed on you after delivery?

• Do you want to hold baby?

• Would you like to spend alone time with the baby?

• Do you want to share care of the baby with the adoptive family?
